Calgary, Alberta - January 19, 2026
Today, we Are announcing the official launch of OnStack AI Lab, Calgary's first applied AI research lab.
Our Goal: Responsible AI for every implementation, from North America to the world.
OnStack operates as a joint venture between QA Enterprises and Begine Fusion, combining research methodology with over two decades of operational experience. We study how AI gets implemented, what works, what scales, and what operators can actually run, and we publish what we learn.

What Responsible AI Implementation Looks Like
responsible AI is AI you Are willing to take accountability for.
It means governance, safety, and explainability designed in from day one, not bolted on after something breaks. It means systems that operators understand, can monitor, and can override. It means knowing what could go wrong before you deploy, not after.
Governance by Design Clear ownership and accountability. Defined boundaries for what the AI can and cannot do. Decision rights established before deployment. Every design decision documented with rationale.
Explainability Operators can describe what the AI does in plain language. Inputs and outputs are visible and auditable. When the AI makes a decision, someone can explain why. No black boxes in critical workflows.
Human Oversight Humans review where stakes are high. Override mechanisms exist and are tested. Escalation paths defined before deployment. The AI assists decisions, it doesn't hide them.
Safety and Risk Failure modes identified before launch. Fallback processes exist when the AI fails or is unavailable. Data access scoped to what's necessary. Harm scenarios documented with mitigations.
Monitoring and Accountability Performance tracked against defined metrics. Alerts when behavior drifts or errors spike. Regular reviews scheduled, not triggered by crisis. Incidents documented with root cause and response.
Operator Capability The people running the system understand it. Training delivered before handoff. Documentation written for operators, not developers. No permanent dependency on outside experts to keep it running.
That's the standard OnStack is building toward, and researching how to make practical for every organization.
How We Research
OnStack is an applied research lab. We study AI implementation in the field, not just in theory.
We start with real problems. Our research questions come from operators and organizations working to make AI deliver value, not from academic trends or vendor roadmaps.
We study implementation, not just capability. AI research typically focuses on what models can do. We focus on what happens when those models meet real operations, existing infrastructure, and human teams.
We publish what we learn. Frameworks, assessment tools, and implementation methodologies get released openly as they mature. Research that stays proprietary doesn't advance the field. Research that gets published does.
We validate through practice. Our implementation work isn't separate from our research, it's how we test what we're learning. Real deployments generate the data that makes our frameworks credible.
Our current work spans energy sector applications, nonprofit operations, stack-first deployment methodologies, and operational governance, but the lab goes where the research gaps are.
Open Knowledge
We are building a library of open frameworks: assessment tools, implementation patterns, governance templates. Resources that help organizations understand where AI fits their reality, built from research on what actually works.
The goal is contribution to the field, not competitive advantage. If we figure something out, we publish it.
Research Into Practice
OnStack also offers implementation services, taking research insights directly into the field.
We operate four structured pathways:
OnStack Awareness: Free educational sessions and AI briefings
OnStack Readiness: Half-day workshops with maturity scoring and 90-day roadmaps
OnStack Sprint: 4-8 week implementation sprints that design, build, test, and deploy
OnStack Support: Ongoing monitoring, maintenance, and strategic optimization
Every engagement follows our stack-first methodology: assess what you have, identify what integrates cleanly, build systems your team can operate independently. Implementation work feeds back into research, real-world deployments are where frameworks get tested and refined.
Why Calgary?
Leadership
Evangel (Ev) Oputa, Co-Founder

Ev is the Founder of Begine Fusion with over 13+ years of experience spanning IT, financial services, fintech, marketing, and nonprofits across three continents. At OnStack, he leads implementation methodology and client engagement. His straightforward approach prioritizes results over tool accumulation. His expertise in digital adoption, CRM automation, and process optimization drives OnStack's stack-first philosophy.
"Responsible AI is the baseline. Governance designed in. Operators who understand the system. Failures planned for. That's what every implementation should look like. We are building a lab to figure out how to make that practical and share it openly."
Musap (Moose) Abdelhag, Co-Founder

Moose is a tech entrepreneur, Founder and CEO of QA Enterprises, and AI strategist with over fifteen years of experience building enterprise systems and leading cross-functional teams. He is Harvard Business School Online certified in Disruptive Strategy and recognized as an award-winning technologist and community changemaker. His work spans AI consulting, education technology (Mini Techies), and youth entrepreneurship (Struggle Is Your Success nonprofit).
"We don't deploy AI we wouldn't be willing to take responsibility for. That's the line. Every system needs clear ownership, human oversight, and operators who can explain what it does. OnStack exists to research how that works in practice and publish the frameworks so everyone has access"
Get Involved
For researchers and universities: We are seeking collaboration partners. If you are studying applied AI, implementation science, or operational deployment, let's talk.
For organizations: If you want to participate in research or need implementation support, start with a conversation. Free Awareness sessions are available, and our Readiness assessments help you understand where AI fits your existing operations.
For the field: Our first frameworks will be published Q1 2026. Follow our work at onstacklabs.ai.
